Frequently asked questions
How do I animate a route on a map?
Enter a start point, an end point and any stops in between. The template plots the real road route, animates the line drawing along it, moves the camera to follow and reveals each place label as it is reached, then renders the whole thing to video. There is nothing to keyframe — the pacing comes from a single camera speed setting.
Can I export the animation with a transparent background?
Yes. Export as WebM with an alpha channel and the route sits over your existing footage in any editor, with no green screen to key out.
Do I need After Effects or video editing software?
No. The template renders in your browser and gives you a finished video file. If you do use an editor, the transparent export drops straight onto a timeline.
What map styles are available?
Satellite, standard street, terrain, dark, vintage and several duotone looks. The style changes the whole mood of the clip, so it is worth trying two or three before you render.
How long does a map animation take to render?
Usually under a minute for a standard clip. Renders run in the background, so you can start the next one while the first finishes.
